Guest Chef Amanda

When asked, what her favorite room in her house, Amanda is most likely going to say: "THE KITCHEN, of course! Memories are made sweet and tasty; families gather to share teaching moments and good conversations, delicious traditions are whipped up and shared with neighbors, family and friends... what's not to love?"

As a child, Amanda disliked mushrooms and any type of fish, but it only took those silly pregnancy cravings to get her to try and fall in love with them!
"Seriously, all you have to do is chop some onions and mince some garlic and you can fool anyone into thinking you're a great cook! At least, I've got my husband fooled! (wink)

Dessert is easily her favorite to make, It's almost therapeutic... a way to de-stress from a crazy day!, Mixing ingredients and the smell of Cinnamon, or chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven just makes all the worries in the world go away... Plus, nothing puts a smile on my kids' faces faster.... than dessert for dinner." (doesn't happen every week, but once in a blue moon..)

Amanda is a regular contributor to her sister's food blog: the Chemistry of Cooking found here:

one of Amanda's favorite movies is Pixars' ... Ratatouille!

Introducing Guest Chef Daisha

I met Daisha during the past year and found we both have a passion for talking FOOD!  So, I begged and begged for her to feature some of her favorite recipes and she's obliged (thanks!).  You can also check out her tips for making your house a home, being crafty with kids, saving money, and other yummy recipes at The Family Scientista (try the marshmallow brownies....YUM).

Now, without further adieu....Meet Daisha, and read what she has to say about FOOD!  You can look forward to some of her yummy recipes, including:
  • Swedish Meatballs
  • Butterscotch Banana Muffins
  • Chicken Pillows
  • Homemade Chocolate Pudding
  • Pulled Pork & Sauteed Onion Sandwich
"When I first got married the meals I made were bland. Like, only season with salt and pepper and the occasional Italian seasoning bland. My husband was sweet about it and would just add Tabasco sauce to everything. But somewhere along the way I became more brave and started cooking with real garlic, onions, cumin, ginger, nutmeg etc. . . and everything tastes so much better. Imagine that?! I honestly can't remember the last time the Tabasco bottle was on the table.

Eating good food is my favorite way to relax. Weekends are when I do the most experimenting in the kitchen, usually with my husband's help (he's a good cook himself). We cook up something flavorful and delicious and eat it while watching a movie together. I love to cook and post many of my favorite recipes on my blog, The Family Scientista. I'm excited to share some of my recipes here on Tasty Sensations. I hope you enjoy them as much as my family and I do!"

Introducing Guest Chef Brook

Not only is this Southern Bell steaming hot in the kitchen (literally, she can pack some heat), she's also one of my dearest friends, someone that no matter how long I go in between talking to her, we can just pick back up right where we left off.  In fact- the first thing Brook and I ever did together was go out to eat at a little Cafe on Bardstown Road in Louisville, Kentucky - we chatted about life and we chatted about food!

On the kitchen side, I love Brook because she sends me recipes that she thinks I would like, and she has introduced me to some of the finest Southern cuisine out there.  Seriously, have you tried her mom's Mac 'n' Cheese?  The stuff is deadly.  And wickedly delicious.
Brook's highlighting five of her faves, and she has a GREAT camera, with a good eye for food photography (way better than mine).  I'll have a recipe of hers highlighted for the next five days, so check back!
Stay tuned for:
  • Quinoa Salad
  • Chicken Posole
  • Roasted Broccoli
  • Best Panckes Ever...Seriously
  • Frozen Coconut Lime Pie

Introducing Guest Chef Scott

I know, it has been a while since I hosted a Guest Chef. It's about time. If I'm getting sick of my own recipes, you must be too. And what I love most about this Guest Chef is that he's a HE! And...even more...He's a he who can make killer curry.

This Guest Chef hails from the Northwest. I've known him for ages, but only recently became aware that he was a dynamo in the kitchen. Here's a little about Guest Chef Scott in his own words:
"To me food is everything. A lot of people budget their time because it is a valuable resource. I budget my meals, I can't waste a meal eating something that is not crazy good. I especially like spicy, flavorful food; I am a curry addict. I first learned to cook curry while living in Southeast Asia. I would describe my curries as being Sri Lankan with a Malaysian flare; I also enjoy Indian and Thai curry."
Keep checking this week for some of Scott's masterpieces.
